Glanbia response insufficient and vague

Mr. Jackie Cahill, President of ICMSA said that Glanbia must retrospectively increase their September milk price in line with the Irish Dairy Board increase of 2.1 cents a litre. Mr. Cahill was speaking following an ICMSA protest at Glanbia Headquarters, Kilkenny attended by over 200 farmers.

During the protest Mr. Cahill had a meeting with the Chairman and Chief Executive of Glanbia who indicated that the October milk price will be increased but gave no such commitment on the September milk price.

ICMSA made it very clear that the improved market returns for September must be passed back in full to dairy farmers and asked the Glanbia Board to change its decision regarding the September milk price. There is huge and growing anger amongst Glanbia suppliers and the Glanbia Board must respond by increasing the September milk, concluded Mr. Cahill.
